Part 3 of 3 from our Handguard Miniseries
As we talked about the ZEV Tech and Centurion Arms Rail already, now it´s the time to get on the last one from our miniseries of PTS Syndicate licensed rails for airsoft and training use. The Griffin Armament Low-Pro RIGID Rail 13.5”.
It is the newest licensed product to the rail family over at PTS. Like the other Rails in our series, the RIGID Rail fits best on AR-15 type rifles that have a 14.5” barrel.
Design objectives of this rail were to provide a slim, ultralight rail, with increased rigidity over similar weight and profile current market options. A custom extrusion provides significant internal reinforcement to reduce flex when gripping the carbine firmly in the shoulder pocket.
Understanding the importance of low light targeting, these reinforcements provide rigid mounting for IR laser & light aimers ensuring minimal POI (point of aim/point of impact) shift when torque is applied to fore-grip type accessories, or when loads are applied to the rail (shooting off barricades, loaded bipods etc).
M-LOK slots at the 3, 6, and 9 o´clock positions allow for mounting of your favorite accessories. Anti-rotation inset QD sling swivel cups close to the receiver at the 9, and 3 o´clock further the theme of the slim, smooth profile of the rail itself.
INSATLLATION NOTICE: It can become a bit tricky to screw the QD sling swivel cups in without the use of a tool as they fit very tight and you can´t screw it all the way in using your fingers only. As seen here, I used my AR-15 wrench for it. Works perfect that way and you´re able to tight it up as needed.
The rest of the installation goes very quick and easy.
As a small extra feature, the RIGID Rail comes with a PTS Low Profile QD Sling Swivel included in the box already. Nice touch by PTS.
Once installed, the RIGID Rail is the thickest of our three Rails in this comparison. But to be honest, we talk about a few inches here. It really depends on how you like to have your grip. For me personally, all three felt very good to operate and slim to hold.
